The Ultimate Guide to Grounded Sage 2.0

In the fall of 2022, we made a lot of changes to our product line. The goal was to simplify product choices for our radiant rebels, streamline our production in the studio, source more sustainable + local ingredient choices, and ultimately, make way for the very best era of Grounded Sage Skincare yet!

We've been around since 2009, so bringing about "the best era yet" was no small task! We're no strangers to shooting for the stars, blazing new trails, and leading with our hearts. So, we didn't back down from making some major shifts to keep Grounded Sage mindfully moving in a sustainable, supportive, and soulful direction.

After spending endless hours juggling all the pieces needed to bring our new product line into existence, each carefully crafted option is now available in our online shop.

Many of you have already retaken the product quizzes to find your best matches from the new lineup. If you haven't, the quiz results have been updated, so I highly recommend going through each quiz again. Here are the direct links:

We've also created the ultimate substitution guide, which you can find below if you're looking for quick recommendations on the "closest match to (insert discontinued product name here)."

Finally, if you'd like to know which products from the new lineup are working for other radiant rebels, be sure to join us in the private facebook group.

The Ultimate Substitution Guide

If you loved using Patchouli Facial Moisturizer, try:

  • Mango & Pineapple Facial Moisturizer for acne healing + repair + prevention. Who it's best for:
    • Those with active acne who need a lot of antioxidant support
    • Those with acne that's (mostly) non-inflammatory. Instead, their breakouts are related to sticky sebum (damaged oils on our skin become sticky and contribute to the formation of acne), clogged pores, a buildup of dead skin cells, and potentially skin flora (the skin microbiome) that could use some support.
  • Soothing Shea Facial Moisturizer for acne-prone skin safe redness relief. Who it's best for:
    • Those who are acne-prone but currently have no (or minimal) active blemishes
    • Those who are prone to dry skin as well as acne.
  • Calendula & Oat Facial Moisturizer for acne-prone skin safe redness relief + hydration + UV protection. Who it's best for:
    • Those with acne (or acne-prone skin) that's more inflammatory in nature.  While sticky sebum and dead skin cells play a role in all acne, squashing inflammation is priority number one when it comes to getting and staying clear of acne for those with the Desert Marigold skin type.
    • A few examples of who would benefit most from Calendula & Oat Facial Moisturizer (rather than Mango & Pineapple Facial Moisturizer) would be those with autoimmune disorders (which cause whole-body inflammation, including on our skin), those who have rosacea + acne-prone skin, and those who don't suspect that excess oil is a significant contributing factor to their acne.
    • Those whose skin feels dehydrated quickly throughout the day (this includes skin feeling tight, hot, stingy, or increasingly sensitive, which are all tell-tale signs that the skin needs additional protection from external elements).
    • Those who find their skin is the most comfortable and clear (of acne) when they are using skincare that focuses on calming sensitivities rather than active/stimulating ingredients.

If you loved using Raw Radiance Facial Moisturizer, try:

  • Mango & Pineapple Facial Moisturizer for acne healing + repair + prevention. Who it's best for:
    • Those with active acne who need a lot of antioxidant support (this was the main feature of Raw Radiance)
  • Safflower Support Facial Moisturizer for a mega dose of antioxidants, acne-prone proof ingredient (deep absorbing ingredients without any worry of clogging pores), plus anti-aging support.

If you loved using our Charcoal Soap or Patchouli & Grapefruit Facial Soap, try:

  • Clarifying Sage Facial Cleanser deep cleans without damaging or stripping skin of its protective layer.
    • Please note that this is a liquid cleanser and not a soap bar, as it's nearly impossible to create a soap bar that's not too harsh on our faces (no matter how oily our skin is).
    • "Squeaky clean" is a sign of a cleanser that is far too harsh and will only encourage the skin to produce more oil. If this has been your experience with cleansers, and you've sought out that "squeaky clean" feeling up until now, then it's time to turn over a new (gentler) leaf so your skin can recover, repair, and re-balance.

If you loved using Wild Basil & Cucumber Oil Cleanser, try:

If you loved using Mineral Makeup Foundation or Whipped Foundation, try:

  • Nature's Veil CC Cream for fool-proof natural, light coverage that's safe for all skin types (including acne-prone)
